Phase I

1. Assesing Prior Knowledge- The prior knowledge would already be learned with prior lessons within the classroom. If a new student where to come in my classroom, I would test his prior knowledge with a worksheet and with visual manipulatives with a one on one session. For my lesson plan the implications are to having the resources available to you like the smart board and manual manipulatives for each student.

2.Plans Instruction- All my objectives are related to the Arizona State, National and local Standards. Thats my guide towards where I want my children to be, knowledge wise. My objectives are clearly stated in three goals the students will learn. The order will go accordingly due to knowledge base builds on the prior objective.

3. The design of the lesson plan is simple. We will build on simple order of operation from one single digit to two. The children will learn their place value and the new principle of borrow and carry. There are two different ways Im targeting differentiated instruction. First for the visual learners there is the manipulatives they hold in their hands which are the deane cubes. Then there is virtual manipulatives to keep the children engaged as a class. Then for those who are gifted they can work on a separate set of problems as extra credit. In the future I will have a reward system for those who do extra work or behave well in class. That worksheet may work toward that reward system which could be an end of the year party of school trip point system as a class.

4. I am a firm believer that participation help the students internalize and master the knowledge they are learning. I place participation as an assesment of my  rubric; the participation is as a class discussion, manipulatives demonstrations and as peer teaching.
